Guest Conduct & Property rules
Last updated: 28 September 2026
These Guest Conduct & Property Rules establish the general standards applicable to guests staying at accommodation made available through Samara Stays.
Individual properties may impose additional rules or requirements. Where property-specific rules are provided before or during a stay, those rules form part of the conditions applicable to the relevant accommodation.
1. Compliance with Property Rules
Guests must comply with:
- these Guest Conduct & Property Rules;
- the applicable booking conditions;
- property-specific rules;
- reasonable instructions issued by the accommodation operator or its authorized representatives; and
- applicable laws and regulations.
Guests are responsible for ensuring that all members of their party comply with these requirements.
2. Registered Guests and Occupancy
Only the number of guests permitted by the applicable reservation may occupy the accommodation.
Guests must not exceed the maximum occupancy applicable to the accommodation.
Additional persons may only stay overnight where expressly authorized.
The accommodation operator may require identification or other information from guests where reasonably necessary for check-in, legal compliance, security or accommodation administration.
3. Visitors
Visitors may be subject to the rules and restrictions applicable to the relevant property.
Guests must not allow visitors to remain overnight or exceed the permitted occupancy without prior authorization.
Where a property restricts visitors for security, capacity, insurance or regulatory reasons, those restrictions must be respected.
4. Check-In and Check-Out
Guests must comply with the check-in and check-out times communicated for the relevant accommodation.
Early check-in or late check-out is not guaranteed and may require prior authorization.
Failure to vacate the accommodation at the required check-out time may result in additional charges where permitted by the applicable property rules and law.
5. Care of the Accommodation
Guests must take reasonable care of the accommodation, furniture, fixtures, equipment, keys, access devices and other property made available during the stay.
Guests must not:
- intentionally damage the accommodation;
- remove furniture, equipment or other property from the accommodation;
- alter fixtures or installations;
- interfere with safety or security equipment;
- misuse appliances or facilities;
- carry out unauthorized repairs or modifications; or
- use the accommodation for purposes other than those reasonably associated with temporary accommodation.
6. Damage
Guests may be responsible for damage caused by themselves or by members of their party or visitors under their responsibility, subject to applicable law.
Where damage occurs, the guest should notify the accommodation operator as soon as reasonably practicable.
Any claim for compensation should be based on the actual circumstances and applicable law.
Where a security deposit or other authorization is applicable, its use will be governed by the conditions communicated for the relevant property.
7. Cleanliness
Guests must maintain reasonable cleanliness and use the accommodation in an ordinary and responsible manner.
Guests may be charged for exceptional cleaning required as a result of unreasonable use, subject to applicable law and the conditions applicable to the accommodation.
8. Smoking
Smoking, vaping or the use of similar products is subject to the rules of the individual property.
Where smoking or vaping is prohibited, guests must comply with the prohibition.
Any applicable cleaning, restoration or damage charges must be disclosed and applied in accordance with the applicable property conditions and law.
9. Pets and Animals
Pets and other animals are permitted only where the relevant property expressly allows them.
Guests must comply with any applicable conditions concerning:
- type or size of animal;

- damage.
Assistance animals shall be treated in accordance with applicable law.

Excessive noise, disruptive gatherings, parties or other conduct that materially interferes with the normal use of the property may be prohibited.
Properties may establish specific quiet hours.
11. Parties and Events
Parties, events and gatherings are not permitted unless expressly authorized by the relevant property.
A reservation made for accommodation does not, by itself, constitute authorization to organize an event or gathering.
12. Illegal or Dangerous Activities

The following are prohibited:
- unlawful activities;
- possession or use of prohibited substances;
- activities creating unreasonable danger to persons or property;

Loss or damage may result in reasonable charges where permitted by applicable law and disclosed conditions.
15. Personal Belongings
Guests are responsible for their personal belongings.
Valuables should not be left unattended where reasonable precautions are available.
Where a property provides a safe or other security facility, guests should follow the relevant instructions.
The liability of the accommodation operator for loss, theft or damage shall be determined by applicable law and any applicable property conditions.
16. Safety Equipment
Guests must not disable, obstruct, remove or interfere with:

Guests should not assume that a request has been accepted merely because it was submitted.
19. Accessibility and Assistance
Guests requiring accessibility-related arrangements should communicate their requirements before arrival whenever possible.
The accommodation operator will consider reasonable requests subject to the characteristics of the accommodation and applicable law.
20. Emergency Situations
In an emergency, guests should immediately contact the appropriate emergency services where necessary.
Guests should also inform the accommodation operator as soon as reasonably practicable.
The emergency services number applicable in Portugal and throughout the European Union is 112.
Guests staying outside Portugal should use the emergency number applicable in the relevant jurisdiction.

Accommodation may not be used for unauthorized commercial activities, including unauthorized filming, photography, events, advertising, professional production or other commercial purposes.

- requiring unauthorized persons to leave;
- charging for verified damage or exceptional costs;
- terminating the stay where legally permitted; or
- contacting the relevant authorities where necessary.
No measure shall be taken in a manner inconsistent with mandatory applicable law.
24. Responsibility for Guests and Visitors
The person who makes a reservation is responsible for ensuring that members of their party and authorized visitors are informed of and comply with the applicable rules.
